WHAT WOULD BE THE ECONOMIC PROSPECT OF KERALA
The State of Kerala has reached the rock bottom stage of economic status. And this must be an all time record. Who is responsible for this pathetic state of affairs? This abnormal situation cannot be attributed to any individual or group. The people of Kerala as a whole is responsible for this. This situation is caused by the people of this peculiar state consisting a huge population of 24×365 politics. Keralites eat politics, drink politics, sleep in politics, talk only politics and pray politics! Finally the political god heard the prayer and showered political answers! The state has no money. Nothing to think about development. Crime is being spread.
Despite all these, the people have not learnt anything. In another couple of years the external remittance may fall from 1.2 lakh crores rupees to a a paltry few chips! And that will be the learning point. It is quite surprising that neither the government nor the people are taking any interest in bringing in more money to the state despite having umpteen number of avenues for that. Tourism is the prime source of income. The annual earning from tourism should be brought up to two lakhs crores rupees. Thousands of people, preferably qualified Youth should be brought into the tourism sector. Many people can make earning from this. Another avenue is export oriented manufacturing industries. Initially we may look for about 25,000 industries within a capital outlay of Rs 5 crores each. Government need not spend even a rupee for this, but should take the lead in organising this as a new venture.
We can also do many things in the service sector for the international community. The government should take the lead in coordinating with the various departments of state and central government. If properly managed all these can be put into operation within a short span of time. Let us understand that there are more sources than lottery and alcohol in our state.
A few days ago twenty20 party has organised a meeting in Poothrikka panchayat in Ernakulam Dist. The meeting was attended by a large gathering. Sri Sabu M Jacob the MD of Kitex addressed the meeting with a set of proposals which no political parties in India could offer so far. Since the people of Kerala has tried and tested Left and Right fronts time and again for over many decades. The net gain from almost each government was a long list of allegations of corruption. If what is offered by Sri Subu can be provided the people of Kerala will reach the level of the the people of the advanced countries. These Twenty 20 party ruled Panchayat have practically shown the people what they are proposing now. A Panchayt ruled by this party has brought it out from lakhs of rupees debt to a surplus of Rs 22 crores. They can apply the same theory in the State of Kerala too, if given an opportunity. Let us have a try. We have nothing to lose.
