TOMB OF MOTHER MARY IN PAKISTAN

Image
(Tomb of Mother Mary) Catholic believe in the assumption of Mary into heaven in bodily form. Pope John Paul II said on 25th June 1997 that Mother Mary experienced natural death prior to her assumption into heaven. According to some 5th century document, while attending the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451, the Patriarch of Jerusalem was asked for the relics of Virgin Mary from the Juvenal by the Emperor Marcian and his wife Pulcheria. As per the account, Juvenal replied that on the third day after her burial, Mary's tomb was found to be empty. Only her shroud was preserved in the church of Gethsemane. In AD 452 the shroud was sent to Constantinople, where it was kept in the Church of Our Lady of Blachernae. It is also believed that what was left in the tomb was the cincture of the Virgin Mary or that dropped by her during assumption. In 1972 a Franciscan friar and archeologist excavated the site and found trace of a 1st century cemetery there. Later the local Chris

TRANFER OF GOVT STAFF IS CONSIDERED AS PUNISHMENT

Image
It has   been found for quite sometime that government staff in Kerala, reported to have committed serious offences are transferred as punishment. The Honourable Supreme Court held that the order of transfer cannot be said to be punitive in nature .... In many of such transfers the employee involved has caused considerable loss to the public exchequer. Normally, it is found that the issue of transfer order ends the matter and no punitive action or the recovery of loss is initiated thereafter. In the cases of petty offence, suspension from service and in serious offences dismissal are the apt punishments prescribed. Under what interests government take a lenient view on this is not known. The government may seriously consider this matter. K V George

'NARCOTIC JIHAD' AND THE AFTERMATH

Image
The news appeard in The Times of India dated 20.09.21 as shown above, prompted to write this. Samastha is upset over the 'controversy triggered' by the Bishop of Pala and the subsequent inaction by the government. People may have sympathy for such well placed and recognised people passing these  remarks publicly. Had they ever upset or passed any comments on any of the following? 1. News report of The Hindu dated 17th February 2021. "The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested two members of the Popular Front of India from Kerala on allegations that they were planning to target leaders of 'Hindu' outfits and strike at sensitive spots in the state with terror attacks. 2. Report by The Times of India dated 18th August 2021. "NIA on Tuesday arrested two women residents of Kannur in Kerala, who were said to be highly radicalised, with one of whom having travelled to Iran to join Islamic State terror outfit in Syria while the other was ready to make the jour

ALL ABOUT CRUCIFIXION

Image
Crucifixion was prevalent in Persian countries during 300-400 BC but introduced as a punishment by the Romans later. The victims on the cross dies by suffocation, loss of body fluids and multiple organ failure. "The weight of the body pulling down on the arms makes breathing extremely difficult." Says Jeremy Ward, Psychologist at Kings College,. London. In addition, the heart and lungs would stop working as blood drained out through wounds.  Those accused of robbery were often tied to the cross with ropes, because they could better support their weight with their arms, might survive for several days. One of the most severe methods of crucifixion was to put the arms straight above the victim. That can kill in ten minutes to half an hour as it is just impossible to breath under those conditions. Someone nailed to a crucifix with their arms stretched out on either side could expect to live for no more than 24 hours. 7 inch nails would be driven through the wrists so

CASES OF RAPE OF MINOR GIRLS IN KERALA

Image
The Honorable  High Court of Kerala points out that one out of two cases coming to it's consideration is related to rape of minor girls. This is a very serious situation and also a heinous state of affairs. We elect governments and pay them heavily, primarily to safeguard us. If they fail it should be viewed very seriously. As per a report by The Times of India there were 627 child rape cases registered in the state in the first five months of 2021. Among these the rape and murder of a six year old in  Vandiperiyar in Idukki district is being widely grieved. 1,313 child rape cases in 2019 and 1,143 in 2020 were reported from this highly literate state of Kerala. As many as 1,639 cognizable cases of crime against children have been registered in the state during the first five months of this year. I would like to suggest the following for an early consideration of the government. 1. The medical community may be asked to study each case and try to find out possible reason

GST FOR PETROL - STATES OPPOSE

Image
State  governments were so far accusing the central government for high prices of petrol and diesel. Now, when the central have started doing something in bringing down the prices of petroleum products, states have started opposing the central move. This is nothing but deceiving the people. The Finance Minister of Kerala has reported to have said that if GST rate is applied on petrol and diesel, it will create scarcity of fund for the state. It means, to have adequate flow of fund to the state, the central should keep on increasing the price of petrol. What type of an attitude? What type of a democracy we are following? We Indians are now openly admitting that we want to eat, talk and sleep but we will not work. We have unending store of natural resources. We have the largest number of qualified and energetic youth. But we will not allow them to work. Both central and state governments should know the fact that when they ask the people to fill the treasury, you must show th

THE MULTI DIMENSIONAL UNIVERSE

Image
(Multidimensional universe -      Stock Illustrations, Dreamstime     .com) The world  in which we live has three dimensions of space, the length, width and depth and with another dimension of time. Beyond this, a baffling possibility that many more dimensions exit in the universe. According to string theory, one of the leading physics model of the last half century, the universe operates with 10 dimensions. As far as man is concerned, what is recorded in our retinas in only two dimensions. Here comes a question, if there are 10 dimensions, why don't we experience all of them. This is answered by Lisa Grossman at ScienceNews that these dimensions are so tiny and so fleeting that we currently can't detect them. But this can be countered by the fact that, tiny or extra large are merely a state for the time being. It can be varied on either side any time. The writer explains about the string theory: "It is difficult to completely explain the mathematics behind

OVER HUNDRED HUMAN BODIES ARE BURNT EVERY DAY

Image
Images of cremation ghats in       Banaras According  to Hindu belief, if the dead body is cremated at the ghats of Ganga river in Banaras the soul will attain 'Moksha' and thereby escape the cycle of death and rebirth. Hindus from all around Banaras and also from distant places bring the bodies of their dear ones to various ghats of Banaras. There are 88 burning ghats in Banaras, with different names for each one like Dashshwsmedh ghat, Ahilya ghat, Tulsi ghat, Durbanga ghat, Assi ghat, Manikarnika ghat etc. An average of over 3,000 human bodies are burnt there every month. Varanasi is the most holy place in India for Hindus. According to Hindu mythology the fight between Brahma and Shiva took place here. During this fight Shiva pulled out one of the five heads of Brahma and that head fell down here and went deep into the earth. Another story is that at the beginning of time Shiva and Parvati stayed here for long and the holy river Ganga ca

INDIA AUSTRALIA JOINT APPEAL TO TALIBAN TO KEEP AWAY FROM TERRORISM i

Image
Indo-Australian ministerial level ongoing meeting in New Delhi have agreed for extended cooperation in the defence sector. They have jointly appealed to the world not to use Afghan soil for nurturing terrorism.  Afghan should also ensure safety and security for women and children in their land. The joint meeting also asked China to deter from activities in Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. While the two countries have agreed cooperation in the defence sector, have expressed concern about the likelihood of other countries using Afghan soil to prop up terrorism. China was the first country to recognise the new Taliban government in Afghanistan. China has their own preference behind this earlier recognition. Pakistan is another country eagerly looking forward to use the terrorist groups of Taliban against India. The name Kashmir surfaced in some loose discussion here and there. Pakistan should be deterred from using terrorist groups from Afghan against India. All peace loving co

DOES THE UN DECREE REMAIN VALID?

Image
UN Security Council  declared some people by name as terrorists about three decades ago. USA priced $10 million for the head of a terrorist by name. To the best of the information available these decrees have not been neither rescinded nor even suspended. And now these so called terrorists are ruling a country. UN and US now remain as silent spectators. Before taking such hard decisions, whether it is UN or US, it must be ensured that such so called terrorists are real terrorists in unequivocal terms and face the charges in International Court of Justice or any other appropriate courts. They should also hold the legal rights to apprehend them wherever and whenever they are surfaced. Failure to take appropriate action against such wanted terrorists will create dents on the sanctity of the supreme organisation like UN and their powerful body like the security council. K V George

CLEANEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD

Image
(Border of the forest region in                        Switzerland) Yale University and Columbia University jointly conducted research on the rankings of cleanest countries in the world in collaboration with World Economic Forum. It aims to measure the cleanliness and environmental friendliness of countries across several variables. The EPI index considers various criteria such as air quality, water, sanitation, forests, climate change, as well as other key factors. It also takes into account 50 percent of country's  environmental health and  percent pertains to its ecosystem vitality. According to WHO air pollution has become one of the leading threats to public health and therefore, has become a global issue. Water and sanitation is another factor, wherein a country has access to clean water. A source of clean water is crucial for human development, the environment and the economy of the country. Climate and energy issue, forests, fisheries, use of heavy metals

MOST EDUCATED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD

Education  is the one that determines the success of an individual as well as a nation. The resulting data was acquired in 2019, which is the latest available, includes the percentage of both sexes, aged between 25 and 34 years old. 1.
