Hubble Space Telescope  is the one sent by NASA, launched into orbit by space shuttle Discovery on April 24, 1990. Hubble orbits about 547 km above earth. It's speed is about 10 km per second. It can take pictures of anything far away. Hubble can be seen from the earth from certain parts only because of its inclined orbit. It has a  length of 43.5 feet, 8 ft diameter and 11,110 kg weight and has six cameras installed. Given below are some pictures taken by Hubble Telescope released by NASA. This image is one of the most photogenic examples of the many turbulent stellar nurseries the NASA/ESA Hubble Telescope has observed during its 30 years life time. The portrait features the giant nebula NGC 2014 and it's neighbour NGC 2020 which together form part of a vast star forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, approximately 163,000 light years away.                     ---------------        Hubble sees a

Raj Kiran Hotel, Lonavala A comfortable drive from Mumbai will take one to Lonavala. The greenary on the hills is very attractive especially during monsoon. However the guests who stayed in the hotel Raj Kiran of Lonavala have a eerie experience to narrate. Several guests who stayed here had a feeling of being watched by someone and the presence of someone or something in the room.  This abnormal situation had kept many awake during night. Only one particular room that is close to the reception has this peculiar problem. Since several guests have complained about this weird issue, hotel management has decided not to give this room to anyone unless warranted otherwise. While some people reportedly have seen blue lights near their feet during night, some others have felt that someone was watching them from the room even though they could not find anyone else in the room. Some guests could find that their bed sheets were pulled out by someone but when they wake up they could f

Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad Ramoji Film City is one of the biggest film cities in India. It is also a tourist attraction. Some people however say that there are abnormal things talking place here. There have been incidents of lights falling off on their own, or light men  being pushed off by an invisible force from great heights that has left them injured. Not just these, many actresses have felt something supernatural in their green room. Apparently, the spirits here have a thing for women and they have at times ripped their clothes too. Similar experience had for the guests stayed in the hotel's of the film city too. Doors getting locked on their own or half eaten food in the room if you leave it for sometime are also common. Some guests heard whispers and strange voices while others have found Urdu words written on their mirrors. However officials of the film city never confirmed any of these. The story goes that the film city is built on batt

Bangalore International Airport  established in 2008 in a 4000 acres land in Devanahalli village is the 3rd busiest airport in India after Delhi and Mumbai. There is a story of haunting spread about  this airport. One night, pilots of the approaching aircraft saw a woman clad in a white sari standing on the runway. The crew immediately asked the airport staff to take her away, but when someone reached there she was disappeared. Later many airport employees too had seen this mysterious lady at different parts of the airport during night hours. The scare of the lady spread out to such an extent that the workers in the cargo department refused to work in nightshift there. The officials of the Airport Authority and Air Traffic Control strongly refuted the claims of the vision of the white clothed lady. However those who had seen the so called ghost stand firm in their stories. Though it has been subsided for sometime, air passengers arriving during nights, who heard the story,

TRAVEL BEYOND TIME !

Image
Travel beyond time! No human can even imagine; a state with no time. Scientifically we cannot conceive this. Amazingly it is not time alone we miss; space and matter too. A real nothingness! It is certainly possible and we all shall experience this. How we can narrate the experience is something that cannot be explained now. Time, matter and space shall cease at some point.  I do not know whether the existing theories in astrophysics and cosmology shall support this. It may also be possible that some laws may be remoulded or reformed to reject what I say. Whatever it may be it will remain a truth and we all will pass through this in some form. Let us try to draw it on a paper. Make a point at the center of the paper. Draw two lines upwards at 45 degree angle on either side from the point away from one another. It looks like the English alphabet 'V'. Let us imagine that the Big Bang, at the beginning of the universe, took place at the bottom point of the 'V'.

Amitabh Bachchan Amitabh Bachchan gained popularity in the early 1970s. He became so dominant in the silver screen in the 70s and 80s. His name could bring films to high returns. Suddenly there came a time when number of his films failed consecutively and his production house too doomed. Eventually by 1997 all those led to a total financial collapse. Within a few years he returned to his old slot, most bankable, successful and respected film star all over the world. A good return from a total fiasco. He didn't weep on his failures but boldly walked back to the place he had left a little early. Sandeep Singh Bhinder The well known SS Bhinder was one of the most successful hockey player in India. His international debut was in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Kula Lumpur in 2004. He took over as the captain of the national hockey team in 2009. Shanti Devi was born in Delhi on 11 December 1926. At the age of four she told her parents that her real home where her husband also lived was in Mathura which is about  145 km from Delhi. She further shared three unique features about her husband; he was fair, wore glasses and had a big wart on his left cheek. She also said that her husband had a shop located in front of the Dwarkadhish temple in Mathura. She stated in school that she was married and had died ten days after giving birth to a child. When she was interviewed by her teacher and headmaster she used words from Mathura dialect and divulged her merchant husband's name as Kedarnath. Subsequently the headmaster located the merchant named Kedarnath in Mathura who had lost his wife, Lugdi Devi, ten days after giving birth to a son. Having got these information Kedarnath travelled to Delhi pretending to be his brother. On seeing Kedarnath Shanti Devi immediately recognised him as her husband. As she also knew seve

THE STORY OF THE BICYCLES

HUMAN BODY THAT REFUSED TO DECOMPOSE

Image
(Painting of Saint Catherine Laboure)  (Preserved body of Saint Catherine                               Laboure) Saint Catherine Laboure is the one who reported her first visitation by an apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1830 in France. She said she had placed her hands on the lap of the Mother and she spoke to her in an empty chapel. Saint Catherine died in 1876 and her body was buried. The body was exhumed in 1933 as part of her official beatification. It was then found that the body was in perfect state of preservation and the joints were still supple. The body can be found now in Paris as Catherine was alive. However the praying hands are fake. The real hands were severed and kept seperately, in memory of the lap they supposedly rested on.       (Preserved body of La Doncella) La Doncella  died about five hundred years ago in the mountain sides in Argentina. A sharp blow to her head is believed to have killed her. She was left seated with her c

PRESERVED BODY OF VLADIMIR LENIN

Image
(Embalmed remains of Lenin on         display in Lenin's Mausoleum, Red                        Square, Moscow) Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov Lenin  was the father of the Russian revolution. He was the first leader of USSR. Leaving aside the political stories we may look into the post life body of the former supremo of Soviet Union. Unlike the normal burial, the body was artificially preserved and made a life-like hybrid monument. Russians have applied fine-tuning preservation techniques that have maintained the look, feel and flexibility of Lenin's body. Lenin when died in January 1924, the Soviet leaders did not want to preserve the body for a long period. Actually Lenin wanted to bury his body by the side of his parents burial place. People envisioned the burial in a closed tomb on the Red Square of Moscow. However the cold winter kept the  corpse in a good condition for about two months as people were continuously pouring over the place. This gave the idea of pr

UFO SIGHTINGS AROUND THE WORLD

BRIEF HISTORY OF INSURANCE

Image
Insurance  is a means provided for protection from financial loss. It is generally in the form of a contract, represented by policy under which one receive financial protection or a reimbursement of losses from the insurance firm. There are different types of insurances like life insurance, health insurance, automobile insurance, home insurance, cargo insurance, long-term care insurance etc. As early as 4000-3000 BC so called  bottomry contracts were known to merchants of Babylon. The same bottomry was practiced by Hindus in 600 BC  and in ancient Greece in 4th century BC. Under the bottomry contract, loans were granted to merchants with the provision that if the shipment was lost at sea the loan did not have to be repaid. The interest on the loan covered the insurance risk. However marine insurance was well developed by the 15th century. The first American insurance company was formed by Benjamin Franklin in 1752. By 1820 there were 17 insurance companies in New York alone

FARMERS STRUGGLE IN INDIA

Image
The  farmers in India are in struggle for quite sometime. So far the discussions with the central government could yield no result. It is high time for the Indian farmers to sit together and find ways and means to resolve their long pending issues. If the government is not prepared to come out for a fruitful discussion  the farmers have to find answers for their  own questions. The first and prime most thing they may have to understand is that they are the backbone of this country; for that matter farmers are the backbone of every country in the world. Until they stand straight others cannot even stand. It is to be submitted, therefore,  for the consideration of the agitating farmers to call off the nation wide strike after evaluating the following suggestions. At first they may have to relook into all their demands. They may decide what is needed from the government and what they don't need. Primarily what are to be asked to from the government: (i) Free irrigation for

THE GOLDEN CROSS

THERE lived a young man. He believed that he had more sufferings, struggles and miseries than others. He always prayed God to change his cross of troubles. He met a sage one day. He asked the sage why God has given him so much of sufferings while others have less of it and live happily. The sage told him. "The troubles are equal in all men but the intensity varies according to the negative energy gathered in each one". The young man countered. "If I get wealth and power I can over come these." The sage advised him. "You can not man. It is easy for you to carry what you have now  than to carry what you desire to." The sage could not appease him and he went away. He continued to pray God to change the cross he was carrying. O ne day an angel appeared before him. The angel said. "God have heard your prayer. He is pleased to change your cross. Rich  parents' kids may have a rich beginning, a good going and generally a rich ending too. Poor parents' children in all cases may have a poor beginning, in most cases a troublesome going and in many cases a poor ending too. This seems to be a universal theory. However in exceptional cases some sparkle may be found. We shall go through some such realities. Howard Schultz Starbucks executive chairman and former CEO. Howard Schultz is the one who could grow up from humble beginnings. Raised by his truck driver father and stay-at-home mom in a Brooklyn housing project. Schultz described his family as "pretty much destitute." Howard Schultz was the first in his family to go to college. He worked in a housewares company for a short while and then he was introduced to a small coffee chain in Seattle that he eventually purchased and transformed into the Starbucks empire. What is needed for poor one to become rich. The simple answer would be hard work. I don't think any poor can make himself rich by hard work. A rikshaw puller, if work hard he can eat a few more rotis but cannot become rich. Then, someone may say it must be luck. Not at all! There is nothing like luck that make one rich. Luck is nothing but the right effort at the right time at the right place. There may be some  who have become rich by criminal activities. They are not rich but sheer criminals with no peace of mind. Then it could be said success. What is success? Success is an accomplishment of a goal. Success cannot be found overnight. It is a final point one reaches after a long pursuit; may be at the end days of life. Is there nothing then that make a poor rich? Yes, the
