REMISSION OF SINS IN CHRISTIANITY

Image
"And now God found that earth was full of men's iniquities, and that the whole frame of their thought was set continually on evil; and he repented of having made men on the earth at all." (Genesis 6:5-6) God repented for men's iniquities and for having made men on the earth. God the Father being the Supreme Judge took the responsibility of the iniquities of man on Himself and repented for those. And that repentance of God ended at Golgotha in the form of sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That is the only remission of sins for human as shown by Jesus Christ. The forgiveness of sins is well explained in Matthew 26:28. "Drink, all of you, of this, for this is my blood, of the new testament, shed for many, to the remission of sins." Jesus Christ says here with absolute clarity. Jesus says: 'In contrast to the old testament, wherein you were offering your blood or blood of other life beings, for the forgiveness of your sins, which had not accepted by God...

IS THIS LITERACY WE ARE BOASTING ABOUT?

Image
In  India, we have our own standards to measure literacy. States are vying with each  other to reach on top in paper. Since long the state of Kerala is on top with about 96.2% literacy followed by Delhi (88.7%), Uttarakhand (87.6%), Himachal Pradesh (86.6%), Assam (85.9%) and Maharashtra (84.8%) on top of the list. . The parameter for literacy now is, one should know to read and write ones own name. To start with it is good, but this standard should not remain for ever. This is  LKG standard. We must review this every two years and raise this to the next level. In our case it is UKG. Next levels should be Class I, II, III and so on. We must have a minimum target of Plus II. If we can progressively achieve this, the next generation can call themselves literates.  South Korea with 97.9% in 2024 is the most literate country in the world. In 2022, 70% of the population of South Korea between the age of 25 and 34 reached graduation level. In Indi...

WHAT IS THE SO CALLED LUCK?

Image
Luck  is said to be a force that causes things to happen to a person by chance. Luck refers good things only and it has nothing to do with man's efforts and abilities. Professor of psychology Jacqueline D. Woolley says that luck can be defined in three ways; a) a supernatural event, b) an explanation to make sense of certain events, c) a personal attribute one has within himself. If we straight away put a question whether luck is a reality, imagination or superstition the maximum support may be available for reality. May be each one among us have something to say about luck. One purchased some ayurvedic medical compound from a shop for a family member whow was sick. That one went home and took out the things from the paper it was wrapped in. It was a piece of newspaper of a recent issue. The person found a job advertisement in the paper and applied for it and subsequently that one was selected for the job. Here we may find a series of combination of luck. The family mem...

IS THERE ANY ETERNAL HELL FOR MAN?

Image
Imaginary version of hell "And fire from God descended from heaven, and devoured them. And the devil who seduced them, cast into the pool of fire and sulphur, where both the beast  and the false prophets shall be tortured, day and night, for ever and ever. " (Rev 20:9 & 10) We are not certain about the author of the Book of Revelation. It is believed to have written in 96 CE in Asia minor by an Ephesus called John the Elder. It is also traditionally attributed to an unknown John of Patmos. Whoever may be the author, the conceptual explanation given in the book about the hell which is meant for an eternal or timeless punishment have been deep rooted in the Christian faith. A never ending punishment said to be given to human soul who committed an error while living in the world cannot be digested by a man of today. We all believe that God is full of love and compassion. The immortal One who lives in present, past and future sim...

WHY SEX CRIMES ARE MORE IN INDIA

Image
Many  individuals and groups might have studied the subject indepth and submitted their findings to the appropriate authorities from time to time. Unfortunately our follow up action and corrective measures are below par. When female constitute half of the population of the country it becomes the predominant responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of the citizens. Whether it is central or state governments, their efficacy is not appreciable, in this matter. When we look for the prime reasons for this state of affairs, two things can be found on top. One is the wide spread corruption in our country. Criminals here have a feeling that if they have money in their hands, they can commit any crime and get scot free. The other reason is our haphazard educational system. We are still following a job oriented educational system. We do not focus on correcting the serious social issues through education. Safety of women should be included in our school syllabus from ...

FINDING FAULT IN OTHERS

Image
(Image courtesy - Pinterest) According to Hinduism one is rewarded or punished as per his deeds in this life. In any faith, one needs a physical body and senses either to suffer the punishment or enjoy the reward. As such punishments and rewards given in this very world either in this life or in a life after this. In the Bible, according to Mathew 7:1 it is said, "Do not judge, so that you may not be judged." It is like this. We misbehave with other one and hurt him much. But God do not punish us instantly. The Merciful One give us oppertunity to repent on our doing. However, during this time we find one misbehave with our close one. And he happily moves around. We then tell God, "Look at him , Oh God! After hurting my people you are allowing him to live happily. Why don't you punish him?" In this instance, we get our punishment instantly for our earlier similar doings, because we are telling God that misbehaviour deserve instant punishment. The Supr...

HUMAN LABOUR, THE SURPLUS RAW MATERIAL

Image
Most essential items to produce any goods are just two. One is sufficient earth and the other is human labour. We Indians have these two in surplus. But, we are far behind to many countries in producing goods and selling them to other countries. Neither our people nor our governments are focusing on these two to make ourselves wealthy and self sufficient. China is in the forefront and in combining these two elements properly and serve the world and serve themselves. We prefer to weep on our poverty. The government is extending subsidies to reduce the poverty than using our surplus resources to eradicate poverty. I would like to call upon my fellow countrymen to form groups one after the other to produce goods and services and sell those in the international market. If we can produce high quality goods in a fast pace and offer at a low price, there may be enough takers and that will remove our poverty. We can also stand among the rich in the world. K V George

DEATH AND AFTER DEATH - A COSMIC EVENT

Image
DEATH AND AFTER DEATH - A COSMIC EVENT   " D eath is definite. Every death has a cause and I am the cause."   According to Bhagavad Gita this is the Gods version of death. "Amen I say to you, this day you shall be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43) This is what Jesus said when He was on the cross, to the thief who took was crucified to death. D eath is the most horrible thing man ever visualizes. For other life forms it is an experience when it takes place. They do not foresee and hold a fear of it throughout life. We see death as an end to every thing as far as we are concerned. According to a saying, "The world began the day I born  and the world will end the day I die." Since nothing ends in this universe as a whole death too cannot be an end but only a transformation. I f transformed, a series of questions need to be answered. How does the transformation takes place? What is the shape after the transformation? Where is the tra...

EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT URGENTLY NEEDED IN INDIA

Image
(Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapit      University, Banaras) Despite being at the top level in GDP alongwith developed nations India remain far below in pci. There are two reasons for this. The first and foremost is lack of education of the people. The second is the rampant corruption in our country. CAN WE PLAN OUR FUTURE ?

Image
We  are living by our actions. Our actions are controlled by our thoughts. Our thoughts are determined by all that is happening around us. Those taking place around us are governed by external forces and standard universal laws. Strong nuclear force, electromagnetic force, weak nuclear force and gravity are the four forces. Gravity is the weakest amongst all four. However, this weakest one is holding together all minute things in our earth and all other planets, the sun and the solar system together, the galaxy and so the whole universe.,, What is gravity? I don't think that science can give a comprehensive answer. When there is an independent mass, it has it's own gravity. Proportionate to the increase of the mass the gravity too increase. The mass is made of what, I think, do not hold any significance in the gravity it contains. Gravity is the invisible soul of every planet or star. What it is and where it come from remains a mystery. Now let us go back to where w...

Image
(Bethlehem, Palestine - Where the silver star is found, is the exact place Jesus Christ was born) The   records suggest that the Christmas was first celebrated on 25 December 336 CE by the Catholic Church in Rome. However there are much to say that Christmas was celebrated even before that. Now it is the USA is the country where Christmas is most widely celebrated in the world. Other most celebrated countries are Finland, Ireland, Norway and Japan. While Japan is a Shinto and Buddhist country they celebrate Xmas with stars, decorated trees, wide variety of food etc. In Finland there are Santa Claus village, Santa park and Santa work shops. Senegal being a Muslim majority country, Xmas is a public holiday and almost entire population celebrate Christmas. The Christmas tree of today was originated in Central Europe and Baltic states during the Renaissance. In Germany during the 16th century Christians brought decorated trees to their houses in memory of Christ's brig...

MIRACULOUS ESCAPE FROM DEATH

Image
In January 2023 Wen Wen, 38, walked into a hospital casualty room in Xian, central China, with entire knife buried in his head. Only the knife handle was sticking out. One ER nurse fainted as he walked upto the reception. He answered questions about his injury. He had been stabbed by his 76 years old father who was now fled the home. The razor sharp knife sunk into Wen's head above his ear, down into the nasal cavity and finally emerged into his mouth. Astonishingly it missed several major arteries, blood vessels and nerves. "He is incredibly lucky. He could walk and talk perfectly and he will make a full recovery. One or two centimetres in another direction,  though, and he would be dead." Said one medic. RADICAL CHANGE NEEDED FOR OUR SCHOOL SYLLABUS

Image
Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Founded in 1991. One of the top 50 schools in India  The need for a radical change for our school syllabus was discussed here many times. Unfortunately, no any action is found to have taken in this matter so far. I think NCERT may seriously consider this issue.  School Syllabus is the one that build a child into a full-fledged human being. When we try to make the student a competitive professional, such one should also be a disciplined citizen. Political parties have made our schools and colleges into cultivable land for the growth of violent politics. The antisocial elements are trying to convert these institutions into trading ground for narcotics. What a pitiful state of our country. A principal of a college, as reported by social media and later highlighted to the government level, open sex has become a routine thing in a college in Northern Kerala. All these vices are taking place with the support of political parties. Cons...

INDIA IS SECULAR OR SPIRITUAL - NO MATTER FOR WORLD STATISTICAL SAY SPIRITUALISTS DO MORE CRIMES

Image
India's population as on 2021 was 1.39 billion. Leaving 2.9 million atheists the remaining are part of some religions. The prime religions in India are: Hinduism (79.8%), Islam (14.23%), Christianity (2.3%), Sikhism (1.72%) and others like Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrians (Parsis) etc which together have a share of less than 1% of the total population. Further to this there are some more religions which put together less than ten million members. While Hinduism is mainly divided into four castes, there are around 3,000 sub castes and a further divisions of over 25,000 denominations. Though Islamic religion has basically four schools, these are further divided into a good number of communities. Christianity is broadly divided into three groups, altogether they have over 41,000 denominations. Even though many religions are found in India and bulk of the population belong to part of some religions, we prefer to call ourselves a secular nation. Whether it is education, emplo...

SEX EDUCATION IN INDIAN SCHOOLS

Image
Many Indian male see female as a strange life form from other planets. These female 'structures' are 'free for all' they think. We must find an end to this either through education or through compulsion by law. Let us, therefore, opt for education first. The prime motive of sex education in schools, that is from class 4 to 12, should be safety of female of all ages. The lessons should not be merely confined to human anatomy. Sex should be seen as a nature's tool to maintain the existence and upkeep of life forms on earth. Some of our educated newly wed young husband's approach doctors for clarification of sex related matters. Many of our youngsters acquire whole knowledge on sex from cinemas and novels. Children from young age should be provided adequate sex knowledge scientifically. The whole country should have a common sex syllabus from lower classes upto class 12. An expert committee can be formed for this consisting of Educationalists, Medical s...
