CHARITY IS THE WORTHIEST

Image
"I may speak with every tongue that men and angels use; yet, if I lack charity, I am no better than echoing bronze, or the clash of cymbals. I may have powers of prophecy, no secret hidden from me, no knowledge too deep for me; I may have utter faith, so that I can move mountains; yet if I lack charity, I count for nothing. I may give away all that I have, to feed the poor; I may give myself upto be burnt at the stake; if I lack charity, it goes for nothing. Charity is patient, is kind; charity feels no envy; charity is never perverse or proud, never insolent; does not claim it's rights, cannot be provoked, does not brood over an injury; take no pleasure in wrong-doing, but rejoices at the victory of truth; sustains, believes, hopes, endures to the last. Time will come when we shall outgrow prophecy, when speaking with tongues will come to an end, when knowledge will be swept away; we shall never have finished with charity. Our knowledge, our prophecy, are only gli...

Image
The purpose of our hard work in life is to attain contentment, happiness and peace. Every country in the world is doing everything for their people to attain these three. WHY SHOULD WE BOTHER ABOUT OTHERS?

Image
Indians must be the most self centred people in the world. In such case Kerala must be on top of the list of state. Elders in Kerala generally advice their youngsters, "Why should we bother about others issues and purchase problems for us?" We all try to adhere to this advice strictly right through our life. And this must be the prime reason for most of us to remain indifferent when political parties take destructive attitudes. Those who have a dwelling place,. necessary food and some income are contented and , therefore, preferred to remain away from public affairs. Leaving the revenue from taxes and duties, the chief sources of income of the government of Kerala is from sale of liquor and from sale of lottery tickets. Despite having many avenues to raise our revenue multifold our non-professional governments are contented with availing as much loan as possible. The state, however, is surviving by the huge remittance of over Rs 1.5 lakhs crores per annum by our p...

WILD ANIMALS KILL HUGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN KERALA

Image
Tiger hiding in grass According to government reports as on February 1923, 637 people were killed by wild animals in Kerala during the past five years. As per another report of December 2023, 293 people were killed by tigers and 2657 by elephants in India during the preceding five years. Generally tigers attack human when they are injured or become old. When they are incapable of picking natural animals as prey they look for the easy game, human. In all, a total of 486 people were killed by wild animals during 2019-20 to 2023-24 period. 67 deaths were reported by the attack of wild animals between 2024 April and 2025 Match. As per natural reasons all life forms on earth are interlinked with each other. Animals, especially the carnivorous are dependent on other animals for survival. Here in Kerala man encroaching into the natural habitat of wild animals. Many even destroy the natural food and water sources of the poor wild beasts. And their r...

FREE MONEY AVAILABLE BUT GOVERNMENT PREFER TO SQUEEZE PEOPLE

Image
I have been writing here time and again about the huge availability of money for the government. Unfortunately instead of opting for it our own elected governments always prefer to squeeze the people as much as possible. According to three different sources of information, the black money available in India now is: a) Over $10 trillion b) Rs 900 lakhs crore c) As per unconfirmed report of the World Bank, 20% of our GDP is available in black money. A common man of this country, that is I myself, suggest once again to the Government of India, to give the black money holders opportunity to invest this money in some selected priority sectors without declaring the source of income, but by payment of the existing rate of basic income tax plus a 10% penalty. If about 50% of the black money could be pumped out through this offer it would be a big gain for the government. Please consider this and give relief to the people in petrol, cookingas and umpteen other things. And if this ca...

PRICE RISE OF GROCERY AND VEGETABLES

Image
Prices of many grocery items and almost all vegetables have become unaffordable to common man. If there is a reason for this it is the Central and State Governments together to sort out the matter. When a democratic government do not allow it's people to eat their food within their paltry income, such governments are admitting their failure to rule the country. Since we have created, may be over a billion people, who cannot resist and even respond to whatever atrocities are created against them, they may subside to these and finally cease to exist. Earlier in Kerala, some political parties write all over the available places about the price rise and conduct umpteen number of meetings and asked the ruling government to quit. Now such writings or meetings are not found anywhere in the state. This shows that such parties were not showing sympathy to the people and trying to help them. It was mere political publicity! Whatever it may be, all concerned departments of the sta...

ATTACKING WOMEN REACHED MOST SHAMEFUL STAGE

Image
(Image courtesy - The Indian Express) What is happening in our country! No other words than shameful to say. A 21 year old girl seeking employment was called to the house and raped by a Chief Secretary, a Labour Commissioner and a business man in our own country as per report by a leading Malayalam daily sometime back. Why it is repeated here because it is continued in different forms relentlessly. According to The Hindu dated August 21, 2024, it was reported that there were cases against 16 MPs and 135 MLAs  about crime against women. It is further said that it was based on an analysis of 755 out of 776 affidavits of sitting  MPd.3938 of 4033 MLAs from all 28 states and 8 union territories for the last five years.  What is the future of our country for women? What is the fate of the women in our country? Can we not say an effective no to this? Why can't this issue be brought into the root level of school syllabus? Why can't we impose much serious punishment f...

LARGE SETTLEMENT OF WORKERS FROM OTHER STATES IN KERALA

Image
As per available information an estimated number of 50 lakhs migrant workers are in Kerala in 2025. Most of these workers are found in building construction work, brick kiln, plantation, manufacturing industries and fisheries. According to an estimate of 2021 about 26 percent of the workforce in Kerala are migrant workers from other states. About 58% of the workforce in fisheries are migrant wirkers. The remittance made by these workers to their homes is approximately Rs 7.5 billion per annum. About 57% of the workforce in Ernakulam district is from other states. Of late, it has been found that good number of these workers involved in criminal activities like narcotics traffic, sexual assault, burglary etc.  Some of these migrant workers are reported to have used by political parties. We may find soon that a good number of these workers will move to become settled in Kerala permanently. On the other hand it has been noticed that a large per cent of students from Kerala g...

GOD - THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD ONE

Image
Except few atheists each one of us believe in God. The strength of our belief is underlined by adding that my God is the real One. All others' are wrong. This is primarily taught by the religion. If we can get out of this thought and look at ourselves we see God. And when we look at all around us one by one our realisation is completed. Neither our physical brain nor our conceptual brain can conceive the Real Super One.   Once we understand this we can become humble.  That humility is knowledge; knowledge of ourselves add everything else. Erroneously we look for the Almighty One in temples, churches, behind sculptures que formations, paintings, lamps etc. If we know the truth that everything in the universe has God in it and there is nothing else other than God anywhere, it would be easier to identify the Supreme One. We may find below the most disciplined countries in the world. 1.Iceland One of the most progressive nations with high level of literacy and tolerance among population, this country has low crime rate, low violence rate and low police/military expenditures. Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world. 2. New Zealand Low crime rate and police/military capability, sound political stability, respect for human rights and freedom. In order to attain this status the country invest heavily for the people, health services, education and considerable assistance for employment for the people. When these much is done by the country for the people certainly peace will prevail in the whole country. There are more such countries  in the world. While seeing these countries  we Indians may ask o...

RELIGIOUS TURMOIL

Image
There are many countries in the world where religious turmoil is a routine affair. Even it goes to the extent of eliminating people belonging to the minority religion in those countries. The prime reason for such activities to uphold the respective faith of the majority community is nothing but sheer ignorance of such communities in realising the Almighty God. The moment we realise the Supreme One we shall be filled with love. There will be nothing else like hatred, envy, competition or any such things shall be left in our heart. When we do not know God, we are ruled by the negative energy. All that comes into our minds shall be negative thoughts only; for doing destruction against our fellow beings. As per available reports   Christians alone were the maximum victims.  Around 5,000 Christians were killed per year world wide from 2023, 2024 and 2025 period. 90% of these killings took place in Saharan Africa alone. There is only one reason for these heinous act...

FALSE STATEMENTS AND FILTHY LANGUAGES BY ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES

Image
People  of a democratic country elect their representatives to various levels of governance. It can be Panchayat, assembly Parliament or any such bodies. As per democratic norms these elected ones represent the people and expected to serve the people. Above all once they are seated at the so called power center they are expected to see the people as one ruled by them. In our country, whether they rule the country or state the ruler is keen to see the beneficiary belong to their political party, at least in many cases. Over and above these, of late, we find that the rulers, to defend themselves, give false statements either orally or in writing. Further to these, when the need of defence become more and stronger they even do not hesitate to use filthy languages in public. Can all these be considered as disrespect to the people and therefore, warrants punishment as deemed fit. Then comes the normal question, who bells the cat. There is only one answer to this; the rat. No...

SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT STOP GAMBLING IN INDIA?

Image
Should the government stop online gambling in India? The answer must be a straight 'yes'. Gambling in India is governed by the Gambling Act of 1867. Some states like Goa, Daman and Diu, Sikkim etc exempted from the Gambling Act. However online gambling is not covered by the above act. Whether it is online or offline,  gambling is gambling and the impact is negative and destructive. There are news reports about children committing suicides after losing money in online gambling. As per recent  media report about, highschool student, lost nover Rs25,000 in online gambling. Since He could not reveal this to his parents and face them, committed suicide. In another instance two or three young children from one family simultaneously committed suicide as a result not online gambling. There are many families gone to shambles after the heavy loss of money. Despite all these happening in our society our elected representatives do not take it to the parliament and ensure frami...

OUR PRINT MEDIA IS DEVIATING FROM PRIORITIES

Image
"Bad news travels at the speed of light; good news travels like molasses." - Tracy Morgan. If we look back and think a little we can find that our print media has started deviating from certain principles that they followed yesterday. The title news that appears on the front page today might have preferred to have put on the inner page in a small column a few years ago. The paper may say that they are placing each news according to the taste and need of the readers. If that is so today's newspaper cannot say that they are reforming the society as they were doing yesterday, rather they are reforming themselves according to the society. What is the society today and who rules it is not at all hidden from a news media. However some leading newspapers keep themselves away from some significant speeches by the top leaders of as if they have not come across those or there is nothing wrong for them in such speeches. Some others keep things up down for their sake. For...

CAN MONEY BRING HAPPINESS

Image
Many people in the world think that money can bring happiness. About 60% Americans believe that money can certainly bring happiness. Their targets for this is $1.2 million (say about 10 crores rupees) We Indians must also be believing in this happiness theory. For that each one has his own goal. Let us now look it through another angle. A very rich man in his comfortable a.c. room is sweating and losing sleep in the night, whereas a poor agriculturist is enjoying a sound sleep in the night in the open veranda even without a fan. This shows that the money and happiness theory is not a standard one. Someone with any amount of money cannot attain happiness and some others with no much money with them remain happy most of the time. We may set a measurement for Happiness from 0 to 10. Those who indicate '0' has no happiness and those who indicate '10' is having total happiness. I don't think that there is anyone in the world who is having '0' right th...

ELECTION PROMISE AND PAST PERFORMANCE

Image
Political parties come to the people before the election with plenty of promises. The long experienced Indians have heard such promises time and again. They know that these are never going to be fulfilled. The reason for this is something like this; the people are very hungry and as usual they want some chapati and onion slices to appease their hunger. But the experienced politicians offer them five star meals within an year. And surprisingly after five years these people continue to remain hungry even without the few chapats and onion slices. Since it is continued for many years, the people are experienced enough to assess the worth and compatibility of these promises. For instance during these election speeches we all here many promises and programs for uplifting the women of India. On the other hand what we are seeing around  is really unimaginable. According to Frontline magazine 4.45 lakhs crime against women were reported in India in 2022 as per NCRB report. Uttar...

FOOD ADULTERATION CROSSED ALL LIMITS

Image
(image courtesy, Byjus) Food adulteration has crossed all limits in our state. People started falling dead after taking food is a much serious issue. We have a ministry and a seperate department to check food adulteration in the state. Unfortunately despite all preventive arrangements, large quantities of vegetables and fruits infected with high amount of pesticides are sent into our state and our people are made to eat it. Coconut oil mixed with used Mobil oil is reported to have sold in Kerala market. Chilli, coriander powders and other spices are highly adulterated. Harmful contents are reportedly mixed with hotel food, bakery items, fish, meet, chicken, egg and milk in our state. Unless government make stringent laws and take strict follow up action these dangerous crimes may continue in our state and people fall dead here. Along with the government actions the media should also come to the forefront. All offences of adulteration should be reported in...

FREE MONEY ALL OVER

Image
According to media reports a junior government official is picked up by the state vigilance department on the findings that this person has accumulated about 68 lakhs in less than an year.  It may not be an isolated incident. Innumerable such incidents are taking place here on a daily basis. We call this earning by pet names like unaccounted income, non taxable earnings, gifts etc. This money is given by 1.39 billion people consisting of rich and poor from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. There are beggers, poor workers, fishermen, agriculturalists, petty footpath vendors upto those who sell their bodies for a living, among the contributors. The main factor that attracts many people  for government jobs may be this extra income. The only function in the office for them might be to fill their pockets. However, since we have a hard working, efficient and honest generation is still left with us,  our government departments are functioning smoothly. Even though countless n...

A COURAGEOUS CHILD

Image
Mamata Dalai, 6 years old girl with her 7 years old sistar Asanti of Kendrapara district of Odisha were taking bath in a pond near to their house. Suddenly a crocodile appeared in the water. Within no time the six feet long animal caught hold of Asanti's feet. Facing the most dangerous situation in her life Mamata never lost her presence of mind. She immediately caught her sister with all her power and never allowed the animal to pull her down. The loud scream made by the children attracted the people from near by houses. All of them came there and pulled out Asanti from the mouth of the crocodile. Later the  animal was taken away by the forest officials. Later, National Bravery Award was received by the courageous girl Mamata Dalai in 2017. K V George kvgeorgein@gmail.com

KNOW YOUR GOD

Image
There are over four thousand recognised religions in the world. Each one have one or more independent God. Hindu faith alone holds 330 million Gods. It is a truth that there is a Creator of the entire universe including each one of us and other living and nonliving things. When He had created us He knows us very well as to what to do with us. He must have created us for a purpose. Since He cannot commit an error, that purpose is being served very well as desired. Nothing against His wish may take place in whole universe. As far as man is concerned, no man has ever born on this world at his choice. When to take birth or where is not his choice. Who his parents should be is not chosen by him. Whether he should be a man or woman is not absolutely not his option. His body size or colour is not his preference. The quality and system of the internal and external organs of his body are not at all his discretion. Neither his memory nor the intelligence is his pick. Then what is in ...
