AMALGAMATION OF BANKS
The Government of India, representing the majority of the people of India, has decided to amalgamate its associate banks with State Bank of India. The proceedings are in progress. The employees of many of the associate banks are protesting the decision of the government. Quite frequently these employees keep the bank closed in the name of the so called protests. The prime question arises here is whether these employees have any right to question the constitutionally taken decision of the government. If at all they want to clarify anything concerned with the amalgamation, they have many recognised avenues to do so. Over stepping these avenues time and again they prefer to keep the banks closed giving hardship to the entire public. Neither the government nor the judiciary interfere in protecting the legitimate needs of the public by preventing the frequent suspension of services by these banks. It is high time that all the concerned may take a firm decision either to amalgamate or not,
