COVID19 IN AFRICA

Image
There are 54 countries in Africa with a total population of 133.24 crores. While almost all countries in the world are infected with the COVID 19 disease, it has not made much of a havoc in African countries. However, as per available information the deadly disease have so far entered into 49 countries with 5252 cases and 174 deaths. Many African countries do not have adequate resources to overcome the threat of this new pandemic. Significantly, millions of refugees camped in many countries across the continent are vulnerable to this disease. It is more pathetic that resourceful countries in Asia, Europe or American continents are trying their level best to get over this situations in their own countries. As such those countries may not be in a position to divert their attention towards other countries now. Since most of the African countries are helplessly looking at this most hazardous disease with nothing in hand, United Nations may rise to the occasion to help those coun

WORSHIP OF GOD

Image
Gatherings in the places of worship like temples, mosques, churches etc are temporarily disallowed due to the unprecedented situation prevailing in India and many other countries. However the Supreme One cannot be prevented from worshipping by anyone anywhere. We can find Him within our houses and around. The police personnel serving us round the clock can be seen as our God who guide and protect us. The doctors and nursing personnel can be seen as our God of mercy and consolation. All others who serve us to provide food water etc are also our God who feed us. We can worship the Supreme One by providing food and water to the needy, cloth and medicine to the poor, education to the children who want help from us and many other ways are there to worship the Almighty One.  Thanks to the tiny coronavirus which taught us that the Supreme One is not confined Himself in the man made constructions.  KV George                     kvgeorgein@gmail.com

OUR CHILDREN

Image
India can be proud of our children. They are among the best in the world. We must give them opportunities to show their strength. Let us ask them what we do not know with no hesitation. May it be coronavirus, mosquito menace, atmospheric pollution, narcotics abuse, road accidents, criminality, political corruption or waste disposal, we can certainly ask them whether they have anything to say in these. Our children may not have practical knowledge or experience in any particular matter but they have ability to acquire knowledge and suggest application with a wider outlook. We should not expect any immediate answers but it will create inquisitiveness and that will remain with them for long. KV George kvgeorgein@gmail.com

INDISCIPLINE AT IT'S PEAK

Image
While the tiny coronavirus is threatening the world with devastating consequences the Government of India and the state governments are doing their best to overcome the situation. Stringent actions have been taken from time to time for the safety of the people. It is quite appreciable that the police force of the state of Kerala are offering excellent service for the people. However, it is unfortunate from the part of a small section of people who act as if they are immune to this deadly disease and therefore they are reluctant to adhere to the directives of the government. This small section surprisingly include government officials and politicians. The government officials should know that they are being paid by the people for their service. They are bound to obey the government and they are not above the people. Political workers are the servants of the people. They should remain model for the people. Some people act as if they are above law since they belong to the ruli

A MILD WARNING BY NATURE

Image
What is being told here do not hold any documentary evidence like laboratory reports or historical facts. The intelligence of nature is unfathomable and beyond human imagination. Man cannot hide anything from nature and nature convey man and all other living beings appropriately from time to time. Though other beings act according to the guidence of the nature, man is reluctant to do so. This attracts sharp reaction from the nature. The present threat of the coronavirus is a mild reaction by the nature. Now, if we acknowledge the fact, repent for our provocative action and pray for pardon, nature will certainly forgive. Each one of us may pray for himself and on behalf of every human being on this Earth for the forgiveness of the mother nature and assure that we shall never hurt her in anyway. If we make this prayer earnestly, it is certain that we shall immediately overcome the present precarious situation. It may not be done as a test case. Do it with absolute honesty and

CORONAVIRUS - DO NOT BUY AND DO NOT SELL

Image
If we can prevent transmission of coronavirus among ourselves we can certainly contain this pandemic disease. The preventive measures taken by the Government of India and the state governments especially the Government of Kerala is effective so far. The people should strictly obey the guidelines issued by the government from time to time. One should not consider any political affiliation or ideology at this hour. What is being happened in Italy should be an eye opener for each one of us. They have better medical facilities like well equipped and adequately manned hospitals but this deadly virus have proved that they have scarcity everywhere. Patients could not be accommodated in the hospital floors, the supply of oxygen cylinders were far below the requirements, doctors and nurses were deployed for more than 24 hours continuously and, the worst, dead bodies could not be buried in cemeteries. Whether in Kerala or in any states of India such situation will be unpredictable as

CORONA LESSONS

Image
The  coronavirus is providing us some lessons for immediate learning. # If man is acting as destructive virus against mother earth, she would be constrained to treat with antivirus. # No amount of wealth or devastating weapons can stop the fury of the nature. # God is not sitting in any man made constructions. # Worship of God is nothing but love the fellow beings. # Man should not have conceit on his medical achievements. There can be more diseases than the medicines stocked. # If we do not have self discipline, we shall be forced to be disciplined. Picked from the nature's syllabus for all classes. SHOULD WE KILL THE STRAY DOGS?

Image
An estimated two hundred fifty thousand stray dogs are in Kerala. A section of people of the state want to kill these animals but some others want to leave them harmless, but both groups do not do anything either to preserve or to eliminate. According to World Health Organization there are over 200 million stray dogs worldwide. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals estimates about 3.3 million dogs enter US animal shelters every year. There are many shelters in US and all rescued dogs are transferred into these safe places. In Houston, Texas alone there are 1 million stray dogs and in the whole Netherlands there are no stray dogs. The highest population of man's best friends are in the following countries. 1) US 75.8 million, 2) Brazil 35.7 m 3) China 27.4 m     4) Russia 15.0 m 5) Japan 12.0 m    6) Philippines 11.6 7) India   10.2 m     8) Argentina 9.2 m Most of the people in the world love dogs and they are part of their families. CLOSURE OF BARS AND BEVERAGES OUTLETS

Image
While  the timely actions taken by the government of Kerala to prevent the spread of coronavirus is appreciated by one and all, some relevant petty issues remain to be resolved. Most important of those pertains to the bars and beverages outlets. Primarily on revenue aspects the government is reluctant to close the bars and beverages. Money is certainly important for any government. No reasonable oppertunities can be ignored. Since this particular matter is concerned about the health of the entire people of the state the government is bound to take the right decision at the right time. It is not out of place to mention that some Indian states have already closed all bars and liquor stores of the their states. Bars and beverages need not be closed here, at least for the time being but should stop counter sales. They may be allowed to take orders online and home delivery within the concerned city/town should be arranged at a nominal charge. If the government is strictly consid

MAN Vs VIRUS

Image
An elctron microscopic image of 2019 novel coronavirus grown in cells at The University of Hong Kong Coronavirus is a tiny virus invisible to naked eyes. This virus does not have any physical strength. It does not utter any commanding voice and does not have any communication network. Neither it has any supersonic aircrafts to travel nor any arms and ammunition in stock nor possess any ICBM or nuclear weapons. Even a small pin it doesn't hold. However, during a couple of weeks, it could break open the forts of over 152 countries across the globe, killed over 7900 people and attacked around 2 lakhs. Whether these viruses are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians are yet to be identified. People of almost all religions are temporarily banned in assembling around their favourite deities by the heads of the concerned religions because it enters everywhere Let us learn from all these that whether we are in the temple or mosque or gurudwara or church or in the open field it is

FUEL PRICE

Image
Crude price is terribly slashed the world over. The poor Indians do not get one rupee benefit from this huge price collapse. The government may say that our pricing method is not based on crude price. The rupee fall may also be highlighted. Still we prefer to call us the largest democracy in the world as the governments are always said to be with the people.  Yet, alas, something is wrong somewhere. It is better, therefore, each of us may find out the cost and price of fuel by our own. Today's price at Kochi: Petrol - ₹ 71.726 per litre                Diesel - ₹ 65.923 per litre    Now each one of us may try to find out the following and add the the same to find out the purchase price/cost. 1) Purchase price of crude (take any country from which we import crude) 2) Shipping charges (Take for instance to Kochi) 3) Unloading charge at Kochi port. 4) Pumping/transportation charges to refinery. 5) Refinery expenses for processing into petrol/diesel. 6) Storage expenses. 7) E

TV ADVERTISEMENT

Image
The Broadcasting Content Complaint Council is an independent self regulatory body set by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation in consultation with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. BCCC is the body that controls the advertisements during the break of programs. According to available information, total duration of advertisements allowed during program breaks is 12 min per hour. Of late it has been noticed that at least some television channels are availing more than the prescribed time for the commercials. They do it in the following ways. 1. Telecasting commercial ads for more than the allowed 12 minutes per hour. 2. While serials, cinemas or other programs are running, channels own advertisements are displayed on the bottom or top corner of the screen. When a program is running 100% of the screen belongs to the viewer and what is encroached is for the commercial gain of the channel. The channel has no right to encroach part of the screen for any purpose. They may

CORONA - A REACTION OF THE NATURE?

Image
A transmission electron microscopic image of a coronavirus (Image credit Cavallini James) The tiny Corona virus could easily penetrate through the strongest preventive walls of many countries of the world. According to WHO, as on 13th March, there are 1,32,758 confirmed cases globally (7499 new), 4955 deaths (342 new) and 122 countries outside China are affected with this disease. Surprisingly, this microscopic virus could make the world practically standstill in almost all arena. Can we imagine that this is nothing but the sharp reaction by Mother Nature? We are destroying the nature continuously. We have eliminated most of the forest, terribly damaged the flora and fauna, brought down hills and huge rock deposit, polluted the atmosphere, polluted the rivers and lakes and polluted the ocean. Hundreds of square kilometers of plastic waste deposit are found in the ocean floor of Pacific and Atlantic ocean destroying many life forms there. Man is conti

SOUTHERN RAILWAY NEEDS TO BE DIVIDED

Image
Southern Railway  is one of the 18 zones of the Indian Railways having it's headquarters at Chennai. This zone covers the entire States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puduchery and parts of Karnataka and AP. SR have a route distance of 5098 km spread across the divisions of Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram. SR stands at 4th in the route length after NR, WR and NWR. The gross revenue of this zone during 2017-18 wasa ₹ 7670 crores.  While these are the basic statistics of this zone some more facts are to be added to these. Almost all media of the state of Kerala time and again reported about various actions the zone management taken against this state. To name a few here; the two divisions, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram are generally ignored in many development activities, very reluctant to get new train allocated to these two divisions, new trains given through budget allocation too are delayed for one reason or the other. Some time back new r

COVID 19 - SOME STRANGE THINGS

Image
There are, as appeared in the media, some strange findings associated with the out break of COVID 19. 1. Worst affected COVID 19 cases are reported from the same latitude 40. 2. Such pandemic out breaks were reported in AD 1720, 1820, 1920 and now 2020.  3. Lindsay Harrison and Sylvia Browne in their book 'End of Days' predicted that a respiratory illness would spread across the world in 2020. It is further told that the disease will suddenly vanish as quickly as it appeared. 4. Another book, 'The Eyes of Darkness'.written by Dean Koontz predicted 40 years ago about the spread of Corona virus. 5. Despite the best possible preventive measure the virus cross the borders at a fast pace baffling the medical community. However, what consoles the humanity is that Corona virus is much less dangerous than many epidemics confronted by mankind in the history of killer diseases. Let us have faith in the nature   who alone brought this into the w

CHRIST AND CHRISTIANITY

Image
Part - III What is Christ taught to the world. Jesus Christ being the incarnation of God the Father as man on earth took the punishment for the sins of all human beings ever lived on Himself and shed upto the last drop of His blood on the cross at Calvary. The entire sufferings by Him came out of the never ending love towards man. His teaching is; love one another. Mark 12:30-31 are the two commandments of Jesus Christ. "The first commandment of all is, Listen, Israel; there is no God but the Lord thy God; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with the love of thy whole heart, and thy whole soul, and thy whole mind, and thy whole strength. This is the first commandment, and the second,  its like, is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these." Anyone who abide these commandments shall be kept themselves away from the negative forces and shall become eligible for the kingdom of God. KV George kvgeorgein@gmail.com

CHRIST AND CHRISTIANITY

Image
Part - II Who is Christ? Before setting off to find Christ we may try to understand who is God with a predetermined focus that this power is indefinable, incomprehensible and baffling and cannot be conceived in human mind as this unseen one is the sum total of the whole universe and beyond. Jesus Christ Himself says: "No man has ever seen God; but now his only begotten Son, who abides in the bosom of the Father, has himself become our interpreter." (John 1:18) Jesus tells: "Not that anyone has seen the Father, except him who comes from God; he alone has seen the Father." (John 6:46) It is further confirmed here: "You have always been deaf to his voice, blind to the vision of him." (John 5:37) John 10:30 affirms that Jesus and God the Father are one. "My Father and I are one." Jesus said this in inexplicable terms that God is beyond human conception and He Himself is the visible form of God. The Old Testament reiterates this. "But
