OPEN JAIL FOR HABITUAL CRIMINALS

Image
(Main entrance of Folsom State Prison, CA, USA) Image courtesy, Dreamstime. According to a report by National Crime Record Bureau of 2021 Kochi ranked 3rd in populationwise crime reported in 19 cities of India. This comes to 1603.7 crimes per one lakh population. The data released shows that 33,697 IPC and SLL (not serious crimes) crimes were reported in Kochi in 2021. Why crime rate is so high in a Kerala City? The prime cause may be widespread availability of narcotics here. Peace loving citizens may point their fingers towards the government, the police, various political parties and the media. What is media to do with crimes? Media is expected to report any crime with in depth details. Here some media do not give the personal details of the criminal. Protecting the identity of the criminals encourages them to commit more crimes. If he is an active participant of a political party, media do not expose these details at all. Let us take crime as crime only, whether it is c...

IS THIS LITERACY WE ARE BOASTING ABOUT?

Image
In  India, we have our own standards to measure literacy. States are vying with each  other to reach on top in paper. Since long the state of Kerala is on top with about 96.2% literacy followed by Delhi (88.7%), Uttarakhand (87.6%), Himachal Pradesh (86.6%), Assam (85.9%) and Maharashtra (84.8%) on top of the list. . The parameter for literacy now is, one should know to read and write ones own name. To start with it is good, but this standard should not remain for ever. This is  LKG standard. We must review this every two years and raise this to the next level. In our case it is UKG. Next levels should be Class I, II, III and so on. We must have a minimum target of Plus II. If we can progressively achieve this, the next generation can call themselves literates.  South Korea with 97.9% in 2024 is the most literate country in the world. In 2022 70% of the population of South Korea between the age of 25 and 34 reached graduation level. In India...

BEGGARS IN KERALA - FIND STRANGE AND SURPRISING PEOPLE ON OUR STREETS

Image
As  per the statistics available with Registrar General of India, Kerala has 3715 beggars on it's streets. 1,533 of them are literates. 1,115 are below matriculation. 198 are below graduation, 24 are graduates and 16 hold technical diploma certificates. Five persons hold technical degree and one among them is a female. According to a social worker from Kochi, addiction to drugs, liquor and extravaganza in life brought many educated people to perdition. A rescued person was a graduate from BITS Pilani. A beggar is informed to have an earning of ₹200/- to ₹2,000/- a day. For the sake of money some are involved in criminal activities. Begging is also a business for some. It is understood that people from other states come to Kerala with beggars for this business. Government of Kerala may come forward for the rehabilitation of the beggars. The existing Poor Homes, Destitute Homes etc can accommodate some of them. Religious organisations, Social organisations and NGOs can a ...

POLITICS, RELIGION AND DEMOCRACY

Image
We  Indians have hundreds of issues that need urgent solutions.  For unknown reasons we are least bothered about those issues.  We are keenly interested just in one thing, politics filled with corruption and decorated with religion. We are unable to bifurcate politics, religion and democracy. We Indians forget the fact that India is a democratic nation and we have certain rights and liabilities under the terms democracy. We don't need education, good food and good house. We never ask for these basic needs. We only keep shouting some meanless words " ... Ki Jay" We have enough natural resources. We have adequate number of qualified youth to exploit those resources. Instead of deploying all our unemployed manpower to convert the resources into products and send into the international market and earn foreign exchange we have sent our money into other countries by corrupt means. After watching all these our democratic voters are not at all responding in any manner...

OUR POSSESSIONS ON EARTH

Image
Many of us possess land, building, pool, trees etc on this earth. All these are unequivocally belong to us. We hold sufficient documents to confirm these belongings. All those around accept and admit our ownership. Here comes a question whether these ownership rights and claims are real or imaginary. The simple answer is none of these belong to any of us. The sole owner of all these including the 'You and I' bodies too are owned, nurtured, managed, converted and reconverted by Mother Earth. All have come from her, fed by her and shall return to her. The Mother is taking the help and protection of other great bodies of this universe. Nothing on this earth belongs to man. Each one of us may ask himself as to what is the most precious possession for him for the time being. It is neither land, building, metal, automobiles nor any such things we imagine are our valuable possession. Our most valuable possession for the time being is nothing but the air in our lungs. If it...

UNEQUAL WEALTH HOLDING IN INDIA

Image
Where  India is placed in the world with it's economic status is not the place provided for the Indians. India is placed 5th in the world in GDP ranking in 2023 behind America, China, Japan and Germany. India (rather Indian population) rank 139 in GDP per capita nominal- 2023 and 127 in GDP per capita PPP 2023. These clearly indicate that the people and the country are placed at quite  distant spots. According to Forbes (India) the PCI of the top five GDP countries are given below.  GDP per capita in USD thousand is: USA - 80.03, China - 13.72, Japan - 35.39, Germany - 51.38 India - 2.6 It can be seen from the above list that India is placed far below with a paltry sum. As per a report by The Times of India on 26 January 2023, 1% of the rich population of India hold 40% of the wealth of the country. The report further reveals that the bottom half of the Indian population hold just 3% of the wealth of the country. According to a report of Oxfam International qu...

WHAT IS LUCK?

Image
Luck  is said to be a force that causes things to happen to a person by chance. Luck refers good things only and it has nothing to do with man's efforts and abilities. Professor of psychology Jacqueline D. Woolley says that luck can be defined in three ways; a) a supernatural event, b) an explanation to make sense of certain events, c) a personal attribute one has within himself. If we straight away put a question whether luck is a reality, imagination or superstition the maximum support may be available for reality. May be each one among us have something to say about luck. One purchased some ayurvedic medical compound from a shop for a family member whow was sick. That one went home and took out the things from the paper it was wrapped in. It was a piece of newspaper of a recent issue. The person found a job advertisement in the paper and applied for it and subsequently that one was selected for the job. Here we may find a series of combination of luck. The family mem...

HOW ONE SPOILS ONESELF

Image
This is a real life story of a young man from Uttar Pradesh few decades ago. There was a very rich man. He had plenty of land and other assets. Many men and women were working in his farm. This man was highly influential too. His son after having the basic education put his hands in different fields and made good money. He married to a beautiful girl from a royal family. After the initial days, annoyance erupted in his family life.  This young man had developed relationships with many girls with filthy characters. His wife had a descent job with good earning. Since all efforts failed to bring him back to normalcy  his wife bought a new house and left him along with the children. Despite this he continued to move with those sluts. With the influence of his father, this man could secure some powerful political office. There also this man played filthy games to make money. He could destroy a good number of respected people. Finally he was involved in a financial fraud...

ROBOTIC SURGERY

Image
(Surgical room) The  first recorded robot assisted surgical procedure was in 1985 when the PUMA 560 robotic surgical arm was used in a  delicate neurosurgical biopsy, a non-laparoscopic surgery. Then in 1988 PROBOT was used to perform transurethral prostate surgery. In 1992 an image guided system named Robodic Surgical System was developed for the use in prosthetic hip replacement. This was the only robotic system cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the use in orthopaedic surgery. In 1996 the AESOP 2000, replaced the pedals with a voice control system, allowing the surgeon to have control of the endoscope. By using its voice, the system eliminated the necessity of an assistant to hold the endoscope. The platform evolved to AESOP 3000 increasing the degree of freedom, and had its final platform with the AESOP HR (HERMES Ready) having integrated voice control and functions such as operati...

OUR JOURNEY WITH MOTHER EARTH

Image
.             The Milky Way galaxy  Many of us travel a good distance every day. Some about 100 km and some other much above it. The actual journey we make is not in hundreds or thousands but in millions of kilometres. For example, when we go to sleep at 10.00 pm we are at a place. When we wake up at 6.00 am next day we are at a different place. That is, during the sleep of 8 hrs we traveled a distance of 24,293,360 kilometres. It is not an imaginary figure but a scientifically approved fact. We may go through the following scientific data. Earth rotates on its axis at a speed of 1670 km/hr. The circumference of earth being 40,075 we all travel this distance or something less depending upon our location on the earth. The earth orbit round the sun at a speed of 107,000 km/hr. In 365 days our mother earth travels a distance of 940 million km  Then comes the solar system consisting of the sun, planets, moons, dwarf planets, asteroids...

DO POLITICIANS NEED EDUCATION ?

Image
(Jawaharlal Nehru University New Mehrauli road, New Delhi. Image courtesy, Times of India) Articles 14,15,16,17 & 18 of the Constitution of India prescribe equality to all and this equality make any Indian citizen, even if one is illiterate, to become a Minister of any department and lead the people. As per this eligibility provision, an illiterate can become a minister of education and one who has no knowledge of law can become a law minister and advise the lawyers and judges.  The prime reason for this is that 140 crores Indians do not respond to anything that happens around them and they have no opinion about anything at all. They receive anything and accept with no resistance. Again there is a cause for it and that is lack of education. It may be surprised to find that seven decades after independence only about five percent of our population are graduates and about one third of the population are below primary level of education (the exact figures may be checke...

IS THERE ANY ETERNAL HELL FOR MAN?

Image
Imaginary version of hell "And fire from God descended from heaven, and devoured them. And the devil who seduced them, cast into the pool of fire and sulphur, where both the beast  and the false prophetss shall be tortured, day and night, for ever and ever. " (Rev 20:9 & 10) We are not certain about the author of the Book of Revelation. It is believed to have written in 96 CE in Asia minor by an Ephesus called John the Elder. It is also traditionally attributed to an unknown John of Patmos. Whoever may be the author, the conceptual explanation given in the book about the hell which is meant for an eternal or timeless punishment have been deep rooted in the Christian faith. A never ending punishment said to be given to human soul who committed an error while living in the world cannot be digested by a man of today. We all believe that God is full of love and compassion. The immortal One who lives in present, past and future si...

WHAT IS NEGATIVE ENERGY; DOES IT HAVE ANY IMPACT ON MAN?

Image
Scientific meaning of negative energy is that which is a concept used in physics to explain the nature of certain fields, including the gravitational field and various quantum field effects. The energy given to break an atom is considered as negative energy. On the other hand, if we look into negative energy through theological doctrine we may find different forces. Basically there are two energies in the whole universe. Those are positive energy and negative energy. While God is the centre point of all positive energies, it is the devil who heads all negative energies. Many of our religions teach this. This definition, however, seems to be a wrong one. Since all energies of the universe are originated from the Supreme One negative energy too is from Him only. When we commit sin, it is said to be the influence of negative energy.  The measure of energy we have is inherited. It is the energy of our ancestors that flow into us when we take birth in this world. When we are...

MANY PROBLEMS - ONE SOLUTION

Image
Unemployed people in India may be around 12 crores. Regarding underemployment, since no accurate figures could be gathered, this too coul be estimated around 6 to 8 crores. Over and above these, about 65 lakh graduates including 15 lakhs engineers, are passed out every year in different parts of the country. This is the problem, the only problem, our country face now. In order to get over this, I would like to suggest the following for the consideration of all central and state ministers of the country. Henceforth you all may stop attending all political and religious meetings. In place of these non-productive meetings, you may conduct meetings, seminars, conferences etc to find ways and means to resolve unemployment in our country. If you could find answer to this one problem it will answer to all our problems. K V George

INDIA AND JAPAN, A COMPARISON

Image
India  and Japan have a long relationship. During the 6th century itself Indian culture had filtered into Japan through Buddhism. In the modern era, after the world war, India and Japan had entered into a peace treaty in 1952. The current population of Japan is 126 million which makes 1.6% of the world population. The present population of India is 1.39 billion which constitute 27.7% of world population.Over 28 thousand Indians are now living in Japan. Most of them are in Kobe. The land area of India is more than 9 times that of Japan. However the per capita land holding of Japan is little more than India. While India rank 195th in the world in per capita land holding, Japan ranks 190th. In rain fall Japan ranks 46th while India is 83rd. Japan receive 54% more rains than India. WEST BENGAL, THE TRIAL HOUSE OF COMMUNISM IN INDIA

West Bengal has a history of long communist rule. Out of these long years, 35 years were continuously by two Chief Ministers, i.e, 1977 to 2000 by Jyoti Basu and 2000 to 2011 by Budhadeb Bhattacharjee. We may now go through the final outcome of the communist rule in the state. Most significant of all should be the economic development of the people of that state. We may first find the per capita income of the people. The pci of West Bengal in 2019 can be compared with the high income states. PRAYERS FOR THE DEPARTED SOUL MAY HAVE NO HEED

Image
According to almost all religious faith, life after death is determined by our doings on earth. That is an individual matter. Different faiths have painted different types of heaven. Though some denote the comfort available there, it may be impossible to speak about the comfort of heaven by man, as no man on earth have narrated about it after experiencing life there. The most reliable explanation about the heaven is given by Jesus Christ. According to John 14:20, "When that day comes, you will learn for yourselves that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you." This verse clearly shows that man will be finally be in confluence with God. God will not receive anything impure. Hence the impure man will get cleansed by Jesus first and then join God. And that is the kingdom of God or heaven. The impurities of man can be cleansed only when he has physical body. According to Christian faith Jesus alone can absorb our impurities. God Himself could not draw the ne...

CORRUPTION IN INDIA IS A CONTINUOUS CELEBRATION!

Image
According to Corruption Perception Index of 2022 by Transparency International, India ranks 85 (least corrupt nation) among 180 countries. As per this index the least corrupt countries are Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore and Sweden in the 1 to 6 rankings. One may wish to ask our fellow Indians whether our country can place our name among the above countries during our lifetime. If there is an answer, it would be a flat 'no'. Corruption will be steadily increasing here as no efforts are being made to eradicate the cancerous growth of this destructive element from our society. It seems that corruption is in the blood of most Indians. It all starts from laziness. Making money without any sweating is basically the trendsetter for corruption. Then comes the never ending thirst for comfort, power and so the accumulation of wealth. Cheating, pick pocket, theft, burglary, bribery etc fall in the same category of crimes. Until recently Karnataka, Rajasthan, ...

MY DEAR FELLOW INDIANS, YOU CAN START A LARGE INTERNATIONAL TRADING FIRM WITH NO INVESTMENT

Image
This  is a practically possible business proposal with a near zero investment to start with. This is proposed exclusively for Indians. The details are given below. The nature of business is international trade. Initially goods can be sent to other countries and goods can be bought from other countries to India or to any other countries. To start with you may focus on USA, Canada, UK, Australia and the Gulf countries where the number of Indians are many. You may get in touch with Indians in these countries with fairly good academic qualifications. Those who are willing to associate with this should have adequate time to devote for this. After having the necessary discussion in between all of you, you may plan to execute the same in a large way with a wide scope of trade with many countries. Your communication can be per WhatsApp or through any other selected social media. If the initial discussion is successful you may establish an International trading firm any of your ...
