Along with the above, we may also find the report of Niti Aayog.
Kerala is the most investment friendly state in India. In terms of Human Development Index and Life Standard of the people, Kerala is ahead of all other states of the country. In certain development indices Kerala is on par with some of the developed countries of the world. The GDP of Kerala is mostly based on NRI remittance. It is also found that Kerala has scope to become the IT centre of India. The Vallarpadom Container Transhipment Centre is reported to be capable of contributing significantly for the.economic development of the state of Kerala. The ongoing Vizhinjam port is also expected to contribute lavishly for the state.
While analysing the GDP figures and PCI figures of all five South Indian States shown above and the reported comments about the state of Kerala, it appears that a bright future is ahead for this state. But it is near impossible for the state make an appreciable leap in the economic front. It is like a big family having large arable land living hungry without food as none of the family members knows anything about cultivation. Recently a minister from Kerala is reported to have said that when Tamil Nadu is doing cultivation we Malayalis need not do any cultivation.
The state of Kerala said to have large resources to become a well developed state in the level of advanced countries is now the least among the five Southern states in GDP. In the case of Per Capita Income Kerala is the last but one among the five. In the tourism sector Kerala is said to be "God's Own Country". National Geographic Channel has made appreciable comments about Kerala Tourism time and again. One of it's report says that Kerala is Ten Paradises of the world and one of the 50 must visit places in life time. Unfortunately these things do not reach our concerned rulers. The following figures clarify everything. The top five states of India visited by foreign tourists in 2022 are:
(Figures are in millions)
1. Punjab - 0.31
2. Maharashtra - 0.18
3. Delhi - 0.10
4. Karnataka - 0.07
5. Kerala - 0.06
It shows that either the foreign tourists do not know the tourism significance of Kerala or as a host we are not able to invite them to our place and open The Pandora's Box in front of them. When we have adequate scope for bringing more and more money to our state, we prefer to accuse others and beg from them. Our most interested profession is politics, conducting processions, making speeches, spoiling the city walls by writing dirty things on those, throwing stones on state buses, pulling down shutters on shops and offices. This state may never come up in economic front until we say goodbye to politics.
As have noticed from 42 countries ruled by Communists, none could be a success in economic front. Finally in our country we have seen Communist rule for over three decades. What the West Bengal gained from Communist rule? Thousands of people were killed in the state. Many industries and business establishments were closed, displacing few lakhs people. Per Capita Income of the state reached an all time low level. Starvation was unprecedented in many parts of the state. Unemployment was at it's peak. Lakhs of people are moving out of the state for a living. Having seen all these, we Keralites have not learnt anything. We have installed Communist government here time and again. And now we are getting ready to move out to other states for a living. Our so called literacy is a sheer waste!
