CARNIVOROUS PLANTS
Carnivorous plants derive most of their nutrients from trapping and consuming insects and anthropods. We may find some such plants here. There are more than 600 known species of carnivorous plants.
Slender pitcher plant
This plant has pitcher shaped leaves and insects are attracted to these leaves.
Venus flytraps
Venus flytraps are one of the rare plants that can move quickly to trap bugs and sometimes small mammals for digestion.
Pretty in pink
This plant can be found in all continents except in Antarctica. Sundews ensnare creepy-crawlies on their sticky pink stalks and then absorb the insects' nutrients.
Spider snacks
Tiny hairs on their clamshell like traps cause to snap shut when triggered.
Mucous trap
These plants move relatively slowly, as they depend on a sticky mucous to trap bugs.
Murderous maze
This snake-like beauty hides a pit of horrors. Lured into the pitcher by sweet-smelling nectar, bugs find themselves lost in a maze of false exits. Few may make it out alive. The slippery down tube take trapped one to a small pool of bacteria rich water, where the bugs become plants food.
