USE TODAY'S EDUCATION TO BUILD TOMORROW'S SOCIETY

The government is trying to make some fundamental changes in the system of education in Kerala. The duration of the  school level education is to be extended to further period of few more years and course too may be renamed. Before getting into any hotchpotch in the system of education the concerned authority may primarily consider the benefits accrued to the children by such changes. If the children are not to gain much out of this change better do not go for it. "The main purpose of the American school is to provide for the fullest possible development of each learner for living morally, creatively and productively in a democratic society " Along with the learner the society too should gain from the education provided to each child. What are the social problems we face today, why we fail to resolve those issues and what type of a tomorrow we expect should be the prime things we should teach our children.

Since long our society is affected with the cancer of corruption. No cure is found in the near future. Alcohol and narcotics are threatening the peaceful coexistence in our society. Women of any age cannot go out of the house safely. Religious intolerance is at its peak. Politics have become a destructive force. Indiscipline has become so common in every section of the society. There are so many such issues need to be addressed on top most priority. We, the contemporary men and the system, could neither resolve these nor offer any useful suggestions. Under these circumstances the only alternative left is to nurture the coming generation by providing all necessary ingredients to get over these hard facts.

The only way to equip the children to face tomorrow effectively is to provide them adequate knowledge to counter these negative elements. Appropriate syllabus to be drafted for each classes upto class 12. If the educational syllabus could be well managed today it would be equivalent to manage the whole society of tomorrow.
