HAMBANTOTA in Sri Lanka was opened on 18th November 2010. The port was jointly operated by Sri Lanka Port Authority and China Merchant Port. In 2016 the port made a revenue of $11.81 million but incurred heavy loss making the  debt repayment nearly impossible. In order to tide over the situation the port was privatised and 80% of the stake was given to the Chinese company. Finding difficulty in paying back the loan amount the previous Sri Lankan government has handed over the port to the Chinese company on a 99 years lease to raise $1.2 billion. Alongwith the port 15,000 acres of land around it was also included in the lease. China has absolute control of the Colombo port city and the Hambantota port and the land around it. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ബഹുഭൂരിപക്ഷം ജനങ്ങളും കണ്ണുനീരോടെ സർക്കാരിനോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു ഇന്ധനവില കുറക്കാൻ. സർക്കാരിന് കേട്ട ഭാവമേയില്ല. ജനങ്ങൾക്ക്‌ വേണ്ടാത്തത് ജനങ്ങളുടെമേൽ അടിച്ചേൽപ്പിക്കാൻ സർക്കാരിന് അധികാരമുണ്ടോയെന്നു ബഹു: കോടതി പരിശോധിക്കണം. അയൽരാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നമ്മുടെതിനേക്കാൾ 50 ഉം 60ഉം ശതമാനം വിലക്കുറവിൽ ഇന്ധന വിലയുള്ളപ്പോൾ നമ്മുടെ സർക്കാർ 44 രൂപ വിലയ്ക്കുള്ള പെട്രോൾ 55 രൂപയിൽ അധികം നികുതി ചുമത്തി വിൽക്കുന്നു. ആർക്കു വേണ്ടി? ആരെയാണ് സർക്കാരിന് തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുതാനുള്ളത്? ഇന്ധന വില കുറച്ചാൽ സർക്കാരിന്റെ വരുമാനം കുറയുമെന്നോ മറ്റോ ആണു ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതെങ്കിൽ 2019 ൽ കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് ടാക്സ് വെട്ടികുറക്കുക വഴി ഉണ്ടായ വരുമാന നഷ്ടം 1.45 ലക്ഷം കോടി രൂപ ആയിരുന്നല്ലോ. ഇന്ധന വില കുറച്ചാൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന വരുമാന നഷ്ടം നികത്താൻ പല വഴികളുണ്ട്. അതിനൊന്നും സർക്കാർ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകയില്ല. പെട്രോൾ വില ലിറ്റർനു 200 രൂപ ആയാലും പ്രതികരണശേഷി നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട നമ്മുടെ ജനങ്ങൾ മിണ്ടത്തില്ല എന്നു സർക്കാരിന് ഉറപ്പുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ സർക്കാരിന്റെ കണക്കു തെറ്റും. നിത്യോപയോഗ സാധനങ്ങളുടെ വില സാധാരണ ക്കാരന് താങ്ങാവുന്നതിന്റെ പരമാവധിയിലെത്തി. വയറ്റിലേക്ക

കഴിഞ്ഞ  ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങളായി കേരളത്തിലെ മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ റിപ്പോർട്ട്‌ ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ആത്‍മഹത്യകളുടെ ദയനീയമായ സംഭവങ്ങളാണ്. സംസ്ഥാന, കേന്ദ്ര ഗവണ്മെന്റ് കൾ അതീവ ശ്രദ്ധ നൽകേണ്ട ഒരു വിഷയമാണിത്. സ്ത്രീധനവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട 2075 കേസ് കളാണ് 2020 ൽ രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തതു. ഈ വർഷം മെയ്‌ 31 വരെ  ഇതു 1080 ആയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇവയെല്ലാം പലതരം കുടുംബ കലഹമായും ഭർതൃപീഡനമായും ഒക്കെ പറയപ്പെടുന്നുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അടിസ്ഥാന ഘടകം സ്ത്രീധനം തന്നെയാണ്. ഭാര്യവീട്ടുകാർ നൽകിയ കാറിന്റെ ബ്രാൻഡ് മായി ഭർത്താവിനും വീട്ടുകാർക്കും പൊരുത്തപ്പെടാൻ കഴിയാതെ പോയതാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ഒരു പെൺകുട്ടി മരണപ്പെടാൻ കാരണമായതത്രെ. ഇത്തരം ധാരാളം സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യത്തു ദൈനം ദിനം നടന്നു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. ദേശീയ കണക്കു പ്രകാരം ഭർതൃ പീഡനം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതിൽ 86% പേരും ആരോടും പരാതിപ്പെടാതെ നിശബ്ദമായി സഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. 77% പേർ ആരെയും അറിയിക്കുക പോലുമില്ല. എങ്ങനെ അവർ പരാതിപ്പെടും. സതി ദേവിയുടെ മഹത്വങ്ങളും, സമർപ്പണവു മൊക്കെയല്ലേ ചെറുപ്പം മുതൽ അവരുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ഇടിച്ചു കയറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. 2019ൽ 4.05 ലക്ഷം കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങളാണ് ഇന്ത്

For  quite sometime we frequently come across news about crores and crores of rupees found without proper account or proper explanation. After extensive enquiry and proper investigation it is generally found that the real owner of the money could not be located. When some people spend hours together to find a lost ten rupee note, many others do not mind the loss of several crores. Surprisingly even government is not bothered to trace the source. Laxity by the government must be the prime cause for mounting the number of such cases. When this is a criminal offence action as deemed fit must be taken against the offenders. If proper and timely action is taken such offences will steeply come down and the government revenue will be increased. With more such revenue, the finance minister will be at ease to bring the prices of many essential commodities including the fuel. K V George

K V Shanti  was a renowned actress of the  Malayalam movies in 1950-60-70s. Shanti played  prominent roles in many films produced by Neela Productions. Other than Malayalam she played major roles in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi movies too. Shanti was born in 1937 in Kottayam, Kerala and died in 2020 in Chennai at the age of 83 years. Shanti had learnt classical dance and was the favourite disciple of Uday Shankar. She had her own dance group and conducted stage shows across the country. Sri Surender Singh MLA from Bairia displayed video of himself drinking cow urine to protect from Covid 19. He said that spread of Covid 19 can be controlled by this treatment. Another BJP MP Pragya Thakur says that cow urine can cure lung infection. She says she takes cow urine every day and that protects her from coronavirus. She wares saffron robes and calls herself a saint. She further claimed that two years ago she was cured from cancer by using cow urine and othe cow product. Last year BJP Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh urged people to drink cow urine to guard against Covid 19. Dr JA Jayalal of Indian Medical Association said that there is no concrete scientific evidence to support that cow dung or urine can boosts immunity against Covid 19.
