According to WHO total alcohol per capita consumption in 2010 among drinkers worldwide was on average 19.4 litres for males and 7.0 litres of pure alcohol for females. In another report by another agency in 2019, globally alcohol consumption causes 2.8 million premature deaths per year. Alcohol use across North Africa and Middle East is particularly low whereas Europe is the highest at around 15 litres per person per year in the Czechia, Lithuania and Moldova. This equals around two' bottles of wine per person per week. Drinking habits among per volume adults is highest in Australia and France which is close to 95 per cent. Beer contains around 5% of pure alcohol, which means that 5 litres of pure alcohol equals 100 litres of beer. When it is wine, 3 litres of pure alcohol equals around 25 bottles of wine. In many Asian countries spirits accounts for most of the total alcohol consumption. In India it is over 90%. Top alcohol consuming countries in the world in 202
