CHRIST AND CHRISTIANITY

Image
It may not be unfair to say that Christ is becoming a stranger to the new generation of almost all denominations of today's Christianity. In order to ensure what is stated above the following questions can be asked to few Christian children or youth. Who is Christ? What is Christ taught to the world? What Christ did for the world? What do you get from Christ? Where is Christ now? If this is asked to ten children, most probably ten different answers can be had. The reason for this state of affairs is that Christianity today focus more on power and wealth. What is taught to the Children is mainly about the history and laws of the concerned  denomination and congregation. The priesthood give more significance to their own created theories than what is taught by Jesus Christ. The so called followers of almost all denominations do not know, therefore, the teachings of Christ. (To be continued) KV George kvgeorgein@gmail.com

HOW BAD IS THE VEGETABLES, FRUITS AND OTHER EATEBLES WE SWALLOW

Image
Almost  everyone is doing the best possible to keep the body healthy. Keep themselves away from all that can cause anything harmful to the body. Whether it is Corona or Nipa viruses the government and people together take all sorts of precautions and quite successfully could overcome these deadly diseases. While this is a joyful story there is a tragic one on the other side of it. The highest number of cancer cases in India is detected from Kerala, followed by Mizoram, Haryana, Delhi and Karnataka, while it is the lowest in Bihar. This is reported by Times of India in September 2018. In 2016, cancer incidence rate in India was 106.6 per 1 lakh people, while in Kerala it is 135.3 per 1 lakh people. Even mortality and disability rates due to cancer are high in this state, a new study shows. Kerala witnessing 73.5 deaths per 1 lakh females and 103.4  per 1 lakh males. Kerala has roughly 35,000 new cases of cancer every year. There are 913 male and 974 female cancer patients pe

THE AMERICAN SUPREMO'S INDIA VISIT

Image
"Relationships are based on four principles: respect, understanding, acceptance and appreciation."                              Mahatma Gandhi "It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of someone else's life with perfection."                                   Bhagavad Gita The ongoing visit of the American President Donald Trump to our country has great significance. There may be better international understanding, stronger trade relationship between the two countries, can become more beneficial to Indians in US and many other things. However, we forgot to read the mind of a guest who have come to see India. Anyone come here to see India has only one thing in mind; to see the true India. We have preferred to show the US President a painted India. Our age old culture and civilization, the great knowledge our ancestors had, the vast amount of language, cast and creed, the unending food habits and tastes, t

CRIME, CRIME EVERYWHERE

Image
Venezuela with a crime rate of 84.86 is the most crime prone country in the world. Quatar with a crime rate of 12.00 and UAE with 15.52 are the countries with lowest rate of crime. India ranks 65 with a crime rate of 42.38. While Finland, Canada and New Zealand are the safest countries for women,  India is one of the most unsafe countries for women in the world along with Afghanistan, Syria and Somalia.  We must certainly do something to erase this black mark. Until we clean the present political system of the country we cannot improve the situation. According to the reports published by The Hindu, India Today and the Business Standard 43% of the Members of Parliament have criminal background. In support of this they have quoted Association of Democratic Reforms. As per a report by India Today, from 2009 to 2019, there has been a rise of 850% in Lok Sabha MPs with criminal offences against women. In the last five years, recognised parties have given tickets to 41 candidate

USE TODAY'S EDUCATION TO BUILD TOMORROW'S SOCIETY

The government is trying to make some fundamental changes in the system of education in Kerala. The duration of the  school level education is to be extended to further period of few more years and course too may be renamed. Before getting into any hotchpotch in the system of education the concerned authority may primarily consider the benefits accrued to the children by such changes. If the children are not to gain much out of this change better do not go for it. "The main purpose of the American school is to provide for the fullest possible development of each learner for living morally, creatively and productively in a democratic society " Along with the learner the society too should gain from the education provided to each child. What are the social problems we face today, why we fail to resolve those issues and what type of a tomorrow we expect should be the prime things we should teach our children. Since long our society is affected with the cancer of corruption. No

POLITICAL CONNECTIONS

"Do anything! I will take you out! I know people at the right place!" We all listen similar dialogue at every now and then from the political court yard. These words are mostly used by the political 'Mamas'. The recent verdict by the supreme court to bring down 350 flats in Kochi is an eye opener to many political Gurus. In fact neither the builders nor the buyers deserve any sympathy. There is clear Development Control Rules that prohibit construction within a specified distance from any water body. Despite knowing the law the builders have made the construction and the owners have bought the flats. These two are in real dilemma now. However, the public fail to understand as to how these tall buildings were kept hidden from the sight of the Kochi Corporation, GCDA, District administration, District Panchayat, concerned Ministry of the state government, the local MLA, the local MP and hundreds of revenue officials roaming around the metro city everyday. Real magic

HIDE AND SEEK GAME BETWEEN TELECOM COMPANIES AND TELECOM DEPARTMENT.

Image
According  to media reports the Apex Court has asked the Telecom companies of India to pay ₹ 1.47 lakhs crore to the government immediately. The honorable court have also indicated that the payment is delayed with the connivance of the Telecom Department. The fence is eating the crops; what else to say. When the government is extracting each rupee from the common man in the name of taxes and duties, they show no urgency in collecting this huge sum from the corporate houses. The honorable judge went to the extent of saying with sorrowful voice that it is better to close down the court if the people cannot obey the institution. Along with this we must know that states like Kerala is pumping in money from the poor daily wage earners by selling alcoholic drinks with a margin of about 1200% above the purchase price. Many states in India are selling dreams to their people, in the name of lottery ticket to generate income. Whether it is state or central government, squeezing the p

DEMOLITION OF FLATS IN KOCHI

Image
Four   high rise buildings have been razed down in Kochi recently for flouting Coastal Zone Regulation norms. These were in the range of 16 to 18 floors with an average height of 50 meters consisting of a total number of 343 flats. Altogether these had an estimated plinth area of around 7 lakh F2 and estimated cost of around ₹ 200 crores. What is the reason behind the wastage of such valuable resources of the state? There is only one answer to this. When corruption is ruling all over, law is thrown into waste basket. In India, when a rich or not so rich one is about to commit something illegal, someone may remind him with the consequences and the answer get usually is 'no problem'. It means he can sort out any problem with money. In this flat case too, before starting the construction, the builder cannot be considered to have kept unaware of the CZR norms. When reminded he too must have said 'no problem'. Each over confident individual buyer of the flats too

GIVE PEOPLE, PEOPLE WILL GIVE YOU BACK

Image
As  in every human dealings, in politics too,  it is a universal truth that if you give people something liberally they will return abundantly. This is exactly what shows in the Delhi election results. When AAP is ruling the capital city, unlike the earlier governments, tried to fulfill their promises one by one to the satisfaction of the people who have voted them to power. The election result of Delhi should be a lesson for every political party of India. Contrary to the conventional belief good oratory cannot earn vote. It can be used only for time pass or boring the listener. Widely heard words like eradication of poverty or liberty, equality and fraternity or corruption free ruling or anti Pakistani and pro Hindu uttering cannot bring vote henceforth in this country. People only want their day to day problems should be addressed by the ruling governments irrespective of any political banner. People of India are no more tied to any flag posts. They are wholly liberal wi

WHO AM I?

Image
Who am I? Many people may be able to give a quick answer to this. Some people, however, may manage to come up with a make shift answer. A few can never give a crystal clear answer to this. Let us join those few. We must have heard people telling about successful ones that they are self made. We too may be attracted by these words for their dedication and hard work for the success. I have pursued this for quite long but could not find a self made one anywhere. I do not think there is one in this whole world. There are many reasons to support my statement. No one in this world has become a man or woman by his or her choice. Their parents too are not chosen by them. The house in which they are born are certainly not their option. The atmosphere they got too is not their pick. Above all, their body, mind and intelligence are not their making. Even, the friends and teachers are not their creation. Someone may dare to say that the friends and teachers are chosen by them; but not,
