AIR POLLUTION BY AUTOMOBILES
Automobiles are major contributors for air pollution. A car emits carbon monoxide when carbon in the fuel does not burn completely and also emits hydrocarbons, a toxic compound. There are other foreign substances too adding impurities to the air. The health risks of the polluted air are extremely serious. This increases respiratory ailments like asthma and bronchitis, heightens the risk of cancer and thereby lead to heavy medical costs. Air pollution is the cause for over five lakhs deaths in India every year. In USA over 50,000 people are died every year due to air pollution. An estimated 6 million people will die per year by 2050 on this account. I can say confidently that there are two options to overcome this menace. 1. The carbon mixture emitted may be converted into liquid form and collected in the vehicle itself. Or 2. Convert this hazardous gas into a harmless one within the vehicle before entering into the exhaust duct. This is not an impossible task. It is very much possibl
