COOPERATIVE BANKS IN KERALA

The demonetisation and the subsequent controversial statements by various political parties have created some suspicion in the minds of the common man. A clarification to this effect is required at the earliest either by the Ministry of Finance or by the concerned senior most official of the RBI. Any deposit exceeding 50 lakhs without proper KYC should be published in the banks site. I think this will sort out the confusion crept in. KV George

PLASTIC MONEY

If the demonetisation process is spread across the country fast we can think about an economic revolution. Plastic money must be popularised along with. This monetary system and its impacts should immediately included in the school syllabus from cl 1 to 12. Let us hope that black money and counterfeit currency shall come down considerably. KV George

AMALGAMATION OF BANKS

The Government of India, representing the majority of the people of India, has decided to amalgamate its associate banks with State Bank of India. The proceedings are in progress. The employees of many of the associate banks are protesting the decision of the government. Quite frequently these employees keep the bank closed in the name of the so called protests. The prime question arises here is whether these employees have any right to question the constitutionally taken decision of the government. If at all they want to clarify anything concerned with the amalgamation, they have many recognised avenues to do so. Over stepping these avenues time and again they prefer to keep the banks closed giving hardship to the entire public. Neither the government nor the judiciary interfere in protecting the legitimate needs of the public by preventing the frequent suspension of services by these banks. It is high time that all the concerned may take a firm decision either to amalgamate or not,

AIR POLLUTION BY AUTOMOBILES

Automobiles are major contributors for air pollution. A car emits carbon monoxide when carbon in the fuel does not burn completely and also emits hydrocarbons, a toxic compound. There are other foreign substances too adding impurities to the air. The health risks of the polluted air are extremely serious. This increases respiratory ailments like asthma and bronchitis, heightens the risk of cancer and thereby lead to heavy medical costs. Air pollution is the cause for over five lakhs deaths in India every year. In USA over 50,000 people are died every year due to air pollution. An estimated 6 million people will die per year by 2050 on this account. I can say confidently that there are two options to overcome this menace. 1. The carbon mixture emitted may be converted into liquid form and collected in the vehicle itself. Or 2. Convert this hazardous gas into a harmless one within the vehicle before entering into the exhaust duct. This is not an impossible task. It is very much possibl

TOURISM IN SOMALIA

The economy of the state of Kerala is largely depends on tourism. The state government along with the people are making good efforts for the promotion of tourism. The people of Kerala can be found in almost all the countries of the world. Publicity given by them through word of mouth about their 'God's Own Country' is not little. Under this circumstance, when the Prime Minister of India is publicly announcing that Kerala is like Somalia. No human being in the world will take a risk to pick Somalia as a tourist destination. Therefore, PM's words shall make a negative impact on the tourism industry. The people of the state may use the social media to promote the tourism front to overcome the inadvertent comment by the Hon'ble Prime Minister.

ASSEMBLY ELECTION IN KERALA

It is high time that the people of Kerala should see the assembly elections are their own lives. They should not act like political slaves. They should keep themselves away from the commands of the political leaders. Prime consideration should not be the colour of the flag; it should be the qualities of the candidate who offer himself to represent you. See whether he has adequate knowledge about the people and the country. See he has the character that stands with our culture and tradition. See he is trustworthy. See he has the basic health to serve you. And above all see he is a law abiding citizen. He/she is the one who is going to talk for you. He/she is the one who is going to act for you. For the coming five years you will have no voice. Think twice before you press your finger on the voting machine. KV George

PRICE OF MEDICINE

Prices of lifesaving medicines have become beyond the reach of common man. In the cases of cardiac problems and the like the poor has no choice but opt for death. Liver transplantation costs over ₹ 40 lakhs! Unimaginable for common man. Prices of tablets and capsules used for common diseases cannot be afforded by an average man. The reason for this sky high price is the exorbitant profits of the manufacturers and the distribution network. Over 1000% profits are added to the manufacturing cost. Print media has highlighted the matter in detail. This squeezing of the poor is done under the cover of the patent act of medicines. Every law is for the welfare of man. It should not be against mankind. Patent act of medicines should be scrapped forthwith. We may approach the UN in this matter. It is not a problem of any particular country. It is a human problem. If the patent act is scrapped and licenses are issued liberally prices of medicines shall come down sharply. Under healthy competition
